Michael Monks

Registered Physiotherapist

Originally from Newfoundland, Michael completed both his Bachelor of Kinesiology (honours) and Masters of Kinesiology at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2014 and 2016, respectively. During that time he also completed his Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) certificate from the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP). In 2018 Michael completed his Masters of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University.

Following his time at Dalhousie, Michael worked in paediatrics in Newfoundland through a Janeway Outreach clinic working with children with developmental, neurological, and orthopaedic concerns. In 2019, he moved back to Nova Scotia and since then has been treating patients of all ages with musculoskeletal conditions, ranging from physical activity for recreation to high performance athletes.

Since finishing school, Michael has completed postgraduate education and has acquired his Certification in Dry Needling, and is currently working towards completing his course work in advanced manual therapy techniques. He also has completed courses in neuro-proprioceptive taping and movement system impairments.

Outside of Strada, Michael enjoys staying active with hiking, running, playing volleyball, and resistance training. He can also be found in the kitchen trying new recipes for chocolate chip cookies and word has it he makes a pretty mouth puckering sour patch cake!
