TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM) ACUPUNCTURE BEDFORD

WHAT IS TCM ACUPUNCTURE

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Acupuncture is a very old Eastern practice where practitioners have honed their skills in diagnosing and preventing imbalances within the human body. In TCM practice, theory suggests that imbalances occur when energy of the body, called Qi (chee), becomes disrupted or blocked. This energy passes through pathways known as “meridians” throughout the body and these pathways are where a TCM acupuncturist will use their extensive knowledge in choosing points along the meridian to restore balance and promote health and wellbeing.

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOWDOES TCM ACUPUNCTURE COMPARE TO MEDICAL ACUPUNCTURE?

While both TCM and Medical acupuncture involve the use of needles in treatment, the philosophy and diagnostic methods differ. Medical acupuncture is the stimulation of nerve fibres to carry electrical impulse back to the brain in which the increase in blood flow will trigger the release of neurotransmitters to help relieve pain. TCM Acupuncture works with looking at the human body as a whole. When the body is not balanced, physical and emotional symptoms arise because of illness or disease. Needle stimulation helps to clear blockages to allow the body to regain balance through its own natural healing response.

HOW DOES TCM ACUPUNCTURE WORK?

In TCM Acupuncture, the needle insertion points are chosen based on the extensive intake where we discuss medical history, physical and mental health concerns, and goals. A treatment plan will be curated based on each individual patient. A typical treatment can take 45 – 60 minutes, and can include acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, auricular acupuncture, scalp acupuncture, or electro-acupuncture. TCM Acupuncture can help balance physical pain, mental health, gynaecological symptoms, and so much more!
